directed by Her Majesty's Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs to inform you that an application has been received from the United States' Minister at this Court, copy of which is inclosed, for facilities for permission for Lieutenant Commander F. M. Green and party in connection with certain astronomical observations with a view to determining secondary meridians of Longitudes;
and to request that you will move the Earl of Kimberley to direct that if there should be no objection thereto, the Governor will give the necessary directions accordingly.
